Weekly Wishes

With 3 weeks of nonstop rain and now unbearable heat, it has been a rough month in mommyhood. Entertaining a toddler comes pretty easy to me, but I have been getting stressed and frustrated with the everyday monotony of entertaining a toddler without stepping foot outdoors for a break. There is no playing in the rain or fun with mud because all of the recent storms have come with lightning and heat + babies do not exactly make for a happy outing.

I may or may not have had a mini tantrum of my own when I struggled through the day on little sleep and one too many toddler tantrums. These two little ladies fill my entire heart with joy, but lately I have been losing my patience way too easily and not handling each situation with care or understanding.

So, my weekly wish is this: Don't overreact. I wish that I will take each stress filled moment in the day and take a step back before acting. I just need to take one moment to breath and I will realize that a toddler covered in ink is not the end of the world and that she is truly doing her best to 'help' mommy with her sister everyday - even if most of her helping ends up disrupting a baby's nap. If daddy happens to come home to a wreck of a home and dinner still uncooked, we will all survive.

Also, wine doesn't hurt.

  1. I think not over reacting is a goog goal in general. When sitting intraffic, when dealing with difficult people, when the internet is slow... Focussing on not over reacting in one area will probably flow over into other areas of your life - that is just awesome.

Amen, Quinn! This weather is not helping anyone in the least bit. I need to implement your weekly wish in my own life, as I have a tendency to overreact at the drop of a hat :) Hang in there, friend, you are doing just fine!

  3. i don't know how you do it! props to you! i overreact when the cat gets into trouble, i can't imagine how much wine it will take for me not to overreact to kids getting into trouble!

  4. I don't have any kids yet, but I've babysit before so I kinda know that need-a-breather feeling!

Maybe magnet up memorable cheeky smile photos of the girls on the fridge, or a stand-up photo frame in the play room. I believe it'll help quite a bit in changing that frustration into "Maybe it isn't that bad".

I know you'll be able to achieve your wish this week!

  5. So hard!! I overreact and i dont even have kids. I just read this post yesterday and helped me realize I need to stop and enjoy more. Love this weekly wish!! Wine definitely works! haha!

  6. That's a really good weekly wish. I think it's hard not to overreact when you're functioning on a lack of sleep. Deep breathing is a really good idea.

  7. That is an adorable photo! And I'm the Queen of overreacting so this was a good reminder for me. :) Good luck with your goals!

I am pretty sure you have the 2 most adorable children ever. Just breathe and remember that :) And over react whenever it seems necessary. It happens to the best of us and helps us maintain sanity.
